Poultry feed for sale

Feed is roughly two thirds of the cost of raising a bird, so a small difference in price per kilo changes the whole batch's margin. This page lists starter, grower, finisher, layer mash and concentrates from suppliers on Poultrix Hub, with delivery quoted before you order.

Compare feed on price per kilo, not price per bag. Bag weights differ between millers, and a bag that looks cheaper is often simply smaller. Where a listing gives a bag size, the calculators on this site will convert it for you.

Cheap feed that underperforms is not cheap. If birds take longer to reach weight or drop off lay, you pay for the difference twice — in the extra feed consumed and in the days of housing, labour and risk you did not budget for.

What to check before you buy

  • Check the manufacture date on the bag

    Vitamins degrade over time and fat in the feed goes rancid. Feed that has sat in a store through a wet season is a different product from the one on the label.

  • Match the feed to the bird's actual stage

    Starter, grower, finisher and layer rations differ in protein and calcium for a reason. Feeding layer mash to growing pullets, or finisher to birds in lay, causes problems that look like disease.

  • Smell and look at it before you accept the delivery

    Musty smell, caking or visible mould means you refuse the delivery. Mycotoxins do not cook out and there is no way to salvage the bag.

  • Change brands gradually

    Switch over several days by mixing old and new. An abrupt change to a different formulation reliably costs you intake and, in layers, production.

Common questions

How much feed will my flock need?

It depends on the bird type, age and target weight. The free broiler and layer feed calculators on this site work it out from your bird numbers and stage, and show the formula so you can check it.

Is it cheaper to mix my own feed?

It can be if you can source ingredients consistently and have a way to check quality, but home mixing shifts the risk of getting the ration wrong onto you. Most small and mid-sized farms do better on a consistent commercial ration until volume justifies the effort.

How should feed be stored?

Off the floor on pallets, away from walls, in a dry ventilated store, and used oldest first. Damp concrete wicks moisture straight into the bottom bags.

Do you deliver feed in bulk?

Delivery is quoted by area at checkout. For large orders, message the supplier through the listing before ordering so they can confirm stock and timing.
