Editorial policy
This page sets out how content on Poultrix Hub is produced: who writes it, what it is based on, what we decline to publish, and how a page is marked when it is not ready for a general audience. It is written so a reader can check our claims about ourselves.
Who writes this content
Guides, calculators and reference pages are written and maintained by the Poultrix Hub editorial team — the same product and content team that builds the farm-records application. Pages carry an organisational byline rather than an individual one, because that is an accurate description of how they are produced. We do not attribute content to invented individuals, and we do not use professional titles such as 'Dr.' for anyone whose qualification we cannot verify.
What our content is based on
- Published extension and development material, principally from the FAO and comparable bodies.
- Breed and management guides published by commercial genetics companies, where the figures are theirs and cited as such.
- Standard commercial management practice as reflected in those published sources.
- The calculations implemented in the Poultrix Hub application, which are documented on the page that uses them.
Where a page presents a figure — a target weight, a stocking density, a feed intake — we say what kind of figure it is and what it depends on. Indicative planning figures are labelled as such, because a number presented as certainty when it is actually a range is a way of being wrong that is hard for a reader to detect.
Health content and veterinary advice
Pages that touch on vaccination or animal health are marked internally as requiring professional review. Until a qualified reviewer has signed a page off, it is set to noindex and excluded from our sitemaps — it stays readable for anyone who follows a link, but we do not put it forward in search as reviewed material.
What we will not publish
- Content attributed to people who do not exist, or credentials we cannot verify.
- Pages created to target a keyword variation without adding anything a reader needs.
- Location pages produced by swapping a place name into otherwise identical text.
- Current prices for chicks, feed or produce, which go stale faster than a written page can be maintained.
- Claims of partnership, endorsement or certification that we cannot evidence.
- Ratings, reviews or testimonials that were not genuinely given by the people named.
- Machine-generated articles published without a person reading and checking them.
Publication and update dates
The published date is when a page first went live. The updated date changes only when the content itself is changed by a person — it is not bumped automatically when the site is rebuilt or redeployed. If a page says it was updated on a date, something on it actually changed on that date.
Pages that are not ready
A page that does not yet have enough content to be useful is marked as not ready in our content system. That means it is excluded from every sitemap, carries a noindex directive, and receives no structured data. We would rather have fewer pages that are worth reading than a larger site with pages that waste a farmer's time.
